MAKER:B Shed

MakerSpace shed for the Festival of Making Event in Blackburn 2017

  • Clients: Ethan Hunt

John won a competition to design and fabricate a MakerSpace shed for the Festival of Making Event in Blackburn 2017. The proposal for the MAKER shed competition (A 6m2 shed to be fabricated from a CNC process for less than £2k) – MAKER:B, a unique trapezoidal plywood form shed.

A shed that provides a great space for a creative/maker to both work from, as well as exhibit from. The shape provides both strength and a highly functional volume, with one primary entrance way, which is created by way of a door/ramp. Inside there is a high-level shelf for display or storage. On the rear of the shed there is a display space for the makers wares. The design / form gives a ‘nod’ to John’s youth and his passion for Sci-Fi capsules, pod’s and spacecraft. It is fun in form and function, yet serious and well thought out through technology and design.
